Clocks A clock typically isn’t made of wood, but many clock mechanisms are installed in wood cases or frames. Woodworkers can make a wide variety of clock cases, including grandfather, grandmother (slightly shorter than a grandfather clock), wall, regulator, shelf, mantel, ship, marine and schoolhouse. Some woodworkers simply add a quartz clock movement to a woodworking product such as a picture frame, a wall plaque or a wooden toy.
